Two new native plant friends, ready to meet their native plant siblings in our native plant garden 🪴 A huge thank you to everyone who has participated in @sweetbonesbakery's cup composting program! The second post dives into having fun and celebrating without booze — a timely one as silly season kicks off. Contrary to popular belief, sobriety and boredom are not a package deal. We have a grand old time without the drinks, and I’m pretty sure our friends still enjoy us just fine even when we’re sipping soda water (or Diet Coke...I'm such a mom). While Grandpa and Grandma were here visiting, I managed to make some progress on a few articles I’ve been tinkering with over the winter. So there’ll be a few new ones coming your way as we roll through spring and into summer. This is my third year using my CanaGrow indoor lights. Despite the name, I’m not growing the devil’s lettuce — just a few innocent chili seedlings trying to survive Canberra’s chilly springs (even the greenhouse doesn’t cut it some years). These little legends will be ready to plant out in about a month, and if all goes well, we’ll be snacking on jalapeño poppers by the end of summer. 🌶️ New blog post! (🔗blog link in bio) Not much hands-on gardening happens here in the dark winter months. Once the overwintering crops are in, it’s mostly a “set and forget” while we wait for spring to wake things up. Sobriety might not seem like it belongs on a sustainability blog — but for me, it’s been the foundation for showing up in every other area of life, including sustainability. That won’t be true for everyone, and that’s totally okay. ✨ It’s winter in Australia, which means one thing: our houses are freezing and the insulation is... aspirational.
