As the head decorator at Sweet Bones, I get to dream up some pretty special creations—and our Spring Fever cake, topped with hand-dried edible flowers, is one I’m especially proud of. What started as a one-off monthly special quickly bloomed into a customer favourite and is now our most popular cake.

All of the flowers are grown organically in mine and Emily’s home gardens, handpicked at their peak, and carefully dried to preserve their colour and delicate beauty. Every cake is a little celebration of the seasons—and a whole lot of love.

A Perfect Cake for Flower Toppers

If you’re looking for a delicious canvas to showcase your edible blooms, look no further than this spiced pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting. It’s one of my go-to recipes for decorating with dried flowers—the golden hue of the pumpkin cake paired with the soft, creamy white frosting makes an ideal backdrop for vibrant pops of natural colour. The warm spices in the cake complement the subtle floral notes beautifully, and it’s an absolute crowd-pleaser for any occasion. It works just as well as a single-layer snack cake or dressed up as a show-stopping layer cake. Either way, your flowers will shine.
